Yoga Teacher - Claire Voce
I love to teach yoga because I believe it is the path to better physical, emotional and spiritual health. My first introduction to yoga was back in 1986 when I was living in Hong Kong and traversing a separation from my husband. I regularly attended the Raja Yoga Centre there to learn valuable meditation techniques and my yoga asana practice was learned from books, videos/ DVDs and the occasional yoga class held at gyms.
When I first attended classes at Greenwood Yoga Academy in 2008, my real passion for yoga as a way of life was aroused. I admired the way students were gently lead on a voyage of self- discovery through asana and I appreciated the lasting positive effect I felt after a class of this type. My regular practice of yoga alleviates the tightness in my neck and shoulders that I have from postural issues relating to my job as a hairdresser.
I am a graduate of GYA’s Advanced Diploma of Holistic Classical Yoga Practices and commenced my Yoga teaching career in 2013 at GYA. Teaching at GYA is a dream come true for me, I love the feeling at the Academy and the camaraderie I always feel when I am there to practice or to teach. Marg and Keith conduct team building, social and training events for the teachers at GYA to bond, to share ideas and to progress.
I believe Yoga is beneficial to all age groups, to all shapes and sizes, and can be practiced comfortably by all people… particularly with the help of adjustments and props.
For people who may be seeking some inspiration and motivation to be proud of their body, Claire teaches a fundamental and highly motivational style of yoga. Suitable for people of all ages Claire teaches that Yoga is not just for thin/bendy or very flexible people but for people who are simply keen to learn how to practice Yoga.
Claire has been exploring and teaching chair yoga and is currently learning more about Yin Yoga for a more reflective practice.
