| CLASSES:
We understand that your life may be very exciting and challenging and that in this busy world you may also have responsibilities; stressful events; pressures; and frustrations which you want to overcome.
From our many years of experience with Yoga techniques, we advocate that you can ease the strains of your everyday living, revitalise your tired body and even quieten your busy mind with a regualr practice of Yoga.
We promote that Yoga is essentially a physical and mental discipline, which if you practice regularly, will bring harmony to your body, mind and soul.
At Greenwood Yoga Academy, we believe that you need to be offered different styles of yoga so you can find a style that accords with your body and enhances your health and wellbeing. This is reflected in the variety of classes we offer you at GYA —from Beginners to Experienced, to classes for Pregnancy and Restorative (for you if you have an injury or illness) as well as private Yoga Therapy and Corporate yoga classes.
Our clients have reaped the many benefits of practicing Yoga with us for more than 11 years and they have all found that they can now: Relax....Smile....Breath....& Enjoy Life! We invite you to come and join us so you too can experience the same benefits. (Please check our timetable on the 'classes' drop down)
COURSE:
Greenwood Yoga Academy is a dedicated Yoga academy which offers you the only government accredited Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist training course in Western Australia. This revolutionary course, Advanced Diploma of Holistic Classical Yoga Practices 52229, commenced its first intake in July 2010 and commenced another intake in August 2011. We are currently taking expressions of interest for our next intake which may take place in July of this year (2012) pending on reaching our quota of 8 registrations. GYA takes pride in teaching in a 'hands on' style and giving personal service to all our trainees.
Although this course is government accredited, its underpinning knowledge and skills are based on the teachings of many great Yoga masters including Sri Tiramalai Krishnamacharya, (born 1888, died 1989). Krishnamacharya was a renowned Indian Yoga master, an Ayurvedic healer and a scholar who was credited with 'modernising' yoga practice. He is widely and respectfully known as 'the father of modern Yoga' and his students include B.K.S. Iyengar, K. Pattabhi Jois, T.K.V. Desikachar and Indra Devi. Over time these students all became well recognised teachers throughout the world in their own right for their skills and knowledge of Yoga and their understanding and interpretations of Krishnamacharya's teachings. GYA's Yoga Teacher Training course and classes at the academy are strongly influenced by the above mentioned renowned teachers to facilitate a well balanced understanding and experience of Yoga.
